I'm a middle school student looking for a computer to carry me into high school. I only want a mac, seeing I lost all of my old PCs to viruses. I currently have the white plastic macbook, but seeing as there won't be a 2011 version, I'm not sure if i should get the air or the pro, and i have a $1200 budget. Another option is to keep my white macbook for a little longer until i can afford the 15" pro.
Update:i meant a $1300 budget.

13" Macbook Pro! I just got the Pro a little less than a week ago for college and it's absolutely wonderful. Plus, if you look carefully at the specs, the Macbook Air, although lighter than the Pro, has less memory and is more expensive than the Pro: http://www.apple.com/why-mac/compare/notebooks.htm...
And when I went to the Apple Store the day I purchased my Pro, I felt like the Air was too thin (as if I was going to crack it). These are just my opinions but hopefully you will choose the right model for yourself regardless if it's a Pro or an Air.
Great choice to come to the Mac community!!! Anyway, as the name suggests, the pro is way better. It is more expensive though, but trust me, it's worth it. The air does not have a CD drive, so you can't put CD's or DVD's into it unless you buy the external drive. It also only has one USB port, which is not quite enough. If you have the money, buy the pro.
13" base model Macbook Air is what I have and I ABSULUTLY LOVE IT !
But honestly anything apple or acer are good for high school students.
I use mine for college and high school and its still in good condition and shape and has plunty of memory.
BAD PART: is no cd drive I had to get the optional outer cd drive.
