This is my first pregnancy and I'll be 20 weeks on Weds.
The last couple of days I've had these horrible headaches that just wont go away. Yes, I have already put a call into my Doctor's and Im awaiting a call back. Just thought I would get some feedback from some experienced moms.
Tyelnol is just not kicking it... any other suggestions? And do you know what causes these headaches?

Headaches are completely normal....and mine also won't go away (I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow). The past week my headaches got soo bad that I couldn't even eat my meals in peace. I would also take Tylenol and it just wouldn't seem to help. So I found two things that helped me out a grip. Firstly, as soon as you feel a headache coming on pop in 2 Tylenols pills. Secondly, tie a scarf around your head tightly and take a nap in a dark room. When I woke up, I would feel much much better. I had asked the doctor too, but he told me it was normal and it's just the way pregnancy is. Sooo I hope that helps and let me know what happens.
I had the same problem. It's good that you're having the doctor check it out, but unfortunately there isn't much you can do. Your blood pressure may be a little high. For me the headaches subsided a bit once I hit the third trimester.
Are you dizzy at all? If it ever gets so bad that you are dizzy and the room starts "spinning", please find somewhere to sit or lie down immediately. The last thing you want to do is try to fight off the "dizziness" because you may end up falling. Trust me, it happened to me.
Good luck sweetie. I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes beautifully!
P.S. One tip before I forget...get a massage from a pro. They will loosen up and relax the neck muscles which will do a world of good.
Oh, you poor thing. I was in your shoes last summer. With the heat and humidity, I had my first migraine.
Call the doctor again. The first time it happened to me, they called me in a prescription (Fioricet) but forgot to call me back and let me know. I went to my next appointment and the midwife was less than happy to realize I had been suffering for 2 weeks because of a clerical error. They get busy, and sometimes they forget. If it's been more than 3 hours, give them another ring.
I can't guarantee you they will give you anything (each doctor is different) but I hope they do. If not, Tylenol, a cool compress, and make sure to stay hydrated. Have a cup of coffee or black tea (yes, it's safe, March of Dimes says you can have 16 oz. of coffee a day. The caffeine helps with headaches when mixed with Tylenol) I feel for you!
I am 20 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. I got a headach sooo bad 2 weeks ago that I collapsed. I had to be rushed to the hospital. I ounf out that I was severely dehydrated, even though I wasnt thirsty and drank plenty that day.
They gave me Tylenol and told me to get some Excedrin Tension headach pills and drink a buttload of water even if I am not thirsty.
hormones cause the headaches..
i'm 12 weeks, and i've been having headaches like 4 or 5 times a week since about 2 weeks in..
the thing is i've never had headaches before.. i mean, i'm talking once or twice a year!! so, it's really the pregnancy hormones that are fluctuating all throughout your body that causes such changes..
Many times headaches in pregnancy are caused by hormonal changes, but they can also be a sign of the development of high blood pressure, a precursor to preeclampsia. You need to be seen. Also watch for vision changes and swelling of the hands and face. If you do not reach your doctor soon, go to the hospital so they can check your urine for protein and your blood pressure. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon. I will be praying for you.

Headaches are normal, sometimes even migrane headaches. There's really not much you could do if you tried Tylenol and its not working. The only way that I was able to take away my headaches was sleeping it off.
my migranes have gone away since i've been preggo it could be from the fact that alot of your blood flow is going to the baby so its not great in all the other places maybe thats why your having these headaches don't worry you'll start getting dizzy here before long!
Totally normal. All throughout the pregnancy, I got killer headaches that were more physical pain. See a chiropractor and he/she should help minimize the frequency.
