Well, Tomorrow I'm going to a meet for High School Indoor Track, but I'm not certain on the rules for running the 4x400. My question is do you stay in your lane that the person pass the stick to or are you allow to cut inside the first lane? Thanks
Update:Thanks, I did horrible on my first meet, I was in 2nd place and another kid knocked the baton out of my hand and I came in last place.

The first person always stays in their lane and the seconde person has to do about 3/4's of the second lap until theyre allowed to cut in, it will deffinetly be marked though.
It will depend on the track (indoor tracks vary in length).
They should explain it before the race, and there should be some point that you are allowed to cut in (as said above, usually at some point in the 2nd leg). Just ask the starter to clarify before you begin.
