what becomes ishmaels calling in life? I have one more question to answer in my summer reading and i cant figure this one out. Help please!

In the Bible, Ishmael becomes the forefather of the Arab nations. There is also a character named Ishmael in the novel, "Moby Dick". In this story, I believe that his calling would have been to write the story of Captain Arab, his crew, and the whale--as Ishmael is the only survivor.
