My Dr. called me last week to tell me that I couldn't have my IUD inserted because the results from my pap came back abnormal & possibly cancerous. Now I am going in tomorrow for a Colposcopy.
my question is, has anyone else had this done, and what were your results?
I've never been so scared in my life (I'm so nervous I haven't slept a wink all night), my husband and I just had our first child in March. We want to have another child in a few years... I'm terrified that something will happen that will not allow me to have children anymore...
Thanks Ladies... in advance.
Update:I'm just really 'bent out of shape' about it because cervical and uterine cancer runs in my family. My mother had cervical cancer when I was 5 and my Aunt (dad's sister) had uterine cancer in 2006, she had to have a hysterectomy.

Try and relax even if it is cancer it might be just tiny and they can remove a small portion or freeze it no biggie.
I had a tumor in my uterus the only way to tell what it was I had to have it removed I elected to have a complete hysterectomy I was 40 turned out to be non cancerous it was a fibroid. He told me I would never get that tumor again but I could get others and since I was not planning to have any children I should consider a hysterectomy.
I always wanted to have children but I was never able to conceive he also discovered I had endometriocis (spelling?)
so bad one of my ovaries was wrapped around my colon.. No wonder my periods were so bad.
I know it is hard not to panic but that will get you nothing and it won't change a thing. If you have been getting checked regularly I am sure it is not as bad as you think. Good luck and God Bless
I have had this procedure done and was worried about it, too. When the results came in, I was fine. Anytime someones pap comes back "suspicious", the Gynecologist recommends a Colposcopy to rule out cancer. It is a somewhat uncomfortable procedure to have done and you will have to wear pads for a couple of days due to bleeding (assuming you typically wear tampons, that is), which is much lighter than when you're having your period.
Anyway, as difficult as it may seem, try not to get worked up about it because you might end up making yourself sick and that can lead to other health issues.
Hope this helps, if even just a little bit. Good luck, I hope it goes well for you!
Please, please comprehend that having HPV does not propose you have maximum cancers. the probability is extremely very small. as quickly as I had an atypical pap years in the past I freaked... i did not tell every person because of the fact i grew to become into confident it grew to become into maximum cancers and that i wanted to 'morn' myself for slightly. whilst i ultimately broke down and advised my mom it grew to become out the two she and my aunt had the comparable concern... with *NO* maximum cancers ever displaying up. returned as quickly as I had this the proceedures have been distinctive... i don't comprehend in the event that they ever extremely did an entire out 'biopsy'... they only scraped some cells which they examined and found to be 'precancerous' (i'm guessing that equals HPV... i comprehend it grew to become into HPV and so i'm guessing that's what they meant via this term). Then they did a 'freezing medical care' this is not achieved and had me get extra primary paps for the subsequent 12 months or 2. It never returned in any respect and it is been over 10 yrs. be chuffed to e mail in case you think of chatting extra would help... yet extremely that grew to become into the tip of the story for me and from what I pay attention this is *very generally* the case. :) desire that helps!
i've had this happen 3 times, and all three times the colposcopy came back fine. don't get bent out of shape about it; you're probably fine.
