I just bought this amazing program and have used it at my friends house and it is amazing, but I don't have the latest of computers. I have a Compaq with 512 MB RAM and 2.6 GHz Intel Celeron Processor. Will Premiere 3.0 work smooth or will it be very rough?

actually, Adobe Premiere runs a lot smoother than Windows Movie Maker or other free programs out there. editing and compiling video is hard work for any computer, but Adobe Premiere is by far the best video editor i've ever used.
i've used Windows Movie Maker, Nero Vision Express, and Adobe Premiere. not only does Adobe have more features than the other 2 put together, it runs smoother on my computer than either of the smaller programs.
the minimum requirements for the program are a 1.4GHz processor and 512 MB RAM. you don't need a great video card to run it. you won't be able to edit High Definition video with your machine, but that isn't a concern for most people anyway.
of course, compiling your finished video will be where you really see the difference between your computer and others. i have a Pentium 4 @ 3.0 and a Core 2 Duo overclocked to 3.2. they both get the job done, but the Core 2 compiles video in a fraction of the time. with your computer, when you're done editing the files and go to format it for the finished product, you're probably going to want to get the process started, then go out for a bite to eat or something ;) compiling 1 hour of video will probably take more than 2 hours on your machine.
It should work the same
