can you explain to me (if you're not bored) what exactly or so agoraphobia is? like, what is the cause of it, is it a psychological problem, how can it be ''cured'' etc. ?
Agoraphobia is the fear of open places, the fear that something will happen to you while you're away from home that you won't have control over. It usually starts with having panic attacks when you're outside the house that get progressively worse and which cause you to start staying at home so that you don't have panic attacks outside. It can cause people to stay at home for years, I've heard of people being confined to their homes for as many as 24 years. There is help available, but you have to ask for it and be willing to go through some behavior modifications therapy and maybe using some medications.
"Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder which primarily consists of the fear of experiencing a difficult or embarrassing situation from which the sufferer cannot escape. As a result, severe sufferers of Agoraphobia may become confined to their homes, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place". "
I'm assuming there isn't really a way to 'cure' it, like most fears.
If you are agoraphobic, you are afraid to leave the house and venture into unfamiliar or "unsafe" surroundings. You'll probably have a panic attack. Drugs help!
