Would an Alaskan Cruise actually be somewhat interesting? I mean what can be exciting about Alaska or am I just unaware of what Alaska has to offer? Thanks.
When you cruise the things that make it exciting are what's available to do on the ship as well as what's off the ship in ports. So a part of the enjoyment of an Alaska cruise is what's available to do on the ship, like the food, the gym, sports activities, shows, pools and hot tubs, etc.
A cruise to Alaska is mostly scenic and cultural. If you enjoy those type things then you will enjoy an Alaska cruise. You'll have the opportunity to see the inside passage (about the same as fjords that you hear about in other places like Norway and Chile); the opportunity to see and even walk on glaciers, do a dog sled ride, see lumber jack demonstrations, go on a dog sled ride, see the White's Pass that the prospectors took in the Alaska gold rush, and see towns that have remained almost the same as they were 100 years ago. You'll also have the opportunity to experience native Alaskan culture and see wildlife, eagles, moose, caribou, etc..
So if all those are things you wouldn't mind experiencing then you would enjoy an Alaska cruise.
Go to Alaska. That was my first cruise and I absolutely loved it. I would go in late May/early June. That way, the weather is decent and there aren't as many bugs. You'll still see a bunch of animals though. I never saw the Northern Lights; I think they're only in the winter. But if you do decide to go on a cruise, the best cruise line is Norwegian Cruise Line. Some people will tell you different but I've always had a great experience with them.
