x/4 = 12 cross multiply
x = 4 * 12
x = 48
Answer: x = 48
Proof (substitute x with 48 in the original equation):
48/4 = 12
12 = 12
x / 4 =12
4( x / 4) = 12*4
4x / 16 = 48
x = 48
When a fraction is multiplied, the numerator is the one being multiplied and not the denominator.
when u multiply both sides by 4..u get x = 48
( x / 4 ) = 12
4 ( x / 4 ) = ( 4 ) ( 12 )
x = 48
Yes, you're right, you need to multiply both sides by 4. To get your answer. x = 48.
x / 4 * 4 will cancel out to just x.
For example, let's say x = 2.
2 / 4 = 0.5
2 / 4 * 4 = 4
No long explainations
x/4=12
or, (x/4)X4=12X4
or, x= 48
