Everytime i eat cheese i get cramps in my stomach n get gassy..when i drink milk i get this terible flem after n i also like cheese alot how can i eat it without getting these side effects?
When one is lactose intolerant, since the body cannot digest lactose, bacteria ferment it, producing those side effects you've described.
Lactose intolerance is common, especially if you don't eat much dairy as you get older.
There is a difference between a lactose allergy and a lactose intolerance. Chris is right, humans are the only mammals to drink milk past infancy; this is why the body loses ability to produce lactase, which digests lactose.
Some people cannot have cows milk, but when they eat and drink goats milk products they are fine. The reason is that in terms of milk composition related to digestion, goats milk is a lot closer to human milk than cows milk.
