You may very well have lactose intolerance and maybe some irritable bowel syndrome. There are some over the counter tablets you can buy with enzymes (lactase) to help digest dairy. You might try taking some with your ice cream to see if it helps. I know because I have problems with dairy and some other foods as well. Good luck.
Well, I'm lactose intolerant and I can have chocolate, small amounts of milk and some cheeses.
However, ice cream just about kills me. When I went to my doctor about it, she first wanted to make sure I don't have a gluten allergy. I told her I can eat bread and I'm fine, so she determined that it is a lactose intolerance (I have family on both my maternal and paternal side that are lactose intolerant). There really is no reliable, easy test for lactose intolerance, there is a breath analysis they can do but it's a pain in the butt so I didn't go through with it.
I avoid ice cream, which isn't a big deal because if I have a lactaid before I have sherbert I'm fine. I don't have sour cream or yogurt, and I buy lactose free milk, those are about the only life style changes I've made.
Now, I do have a friend that's severely lactose intolerant and she can't have chocolate or cheese without taking a pill first (and even then she feels bloated).
My doctor said that if I don't have lactose free milk, the thing to do is get the lactaid drops, put them in milk, leave them to process over night, and then I can drink the milk the next day. She also said you can develop a tolerance to lactose, and you can also begin to lose your tolerance to lactose as well. So, if milk isn't bothering you, keep drinking it.
If you can drink milk with no problem, regardless of what type, you are not severely lactose intolerant. It is possible; however, that you might be having a mild reaction to a chemical in the ice cream.
The easiest way to tell if you are lactose intolerant is to think about how your body reacts to the following:
Yogurt
Mac & Cheese
Chocolate
Milk Based Smoothies
Alfredo Sauce
And things along those lines....
If you become gassy and don't feel well, you might indeed be lactose intolerant.
Hey,
I am lactose intolerant....If you were had this problems as well, besides the gas, you would get a really bad breath. So if you also got this you have it..So yes you probably have it...go check with your doctor☺
yeah i'm. notwithstanding if it rather is extraordinary as a results of fact i will eat 2 slices of pizza, 2 scoops of ice cream, and cocoa (with milk) and be completely high quality. yet while i drink undeniable milk, i will might desire to run to the bathing room and or get a rash.... yet no I genuinely have ever tried :actaid before.... yet perhaps i shoudl provide it a whirl! =)
have you tried lactose pills? you can get them at any grocery store, walmart, or drug store.
OMG!! the same thing happens to me too!! Let me know what the answer is!
