Amazon.com's A-Z Guarantee?

I bought a personal item on Amazon a few weeks ago and when it arrived, it did not work. So I contacted the seller about it and they sent me another one. It also did not work. I received another one, probably by mistake, but since they can't be returned anyway I opened it and checked it. It did not work. I filed a claim with Amazon, and they said that due to the nature of the seller's policy I cannot return the items etc. But I am not looking to return it, I want a refund. I was sent faulty items, not once, but three times! I sent another e-mail to the seller about their warranty policy which the items are still under. But they'll probably just send me another item. My question then is: Am I going to end up being stuck with useless, broken items and never receive any sort of compensation? Is there any way at all to fight this?

Update:

Yeah sorry, I should have stated that. I bought it with a gift card I got for my B-day. Which would explain why I'm doubly frustrated.
