That is hard to say, both are really nice. Depends, on price and what you want, and AMD X2 is half the price of a Dual-Core intel. However, AMD has fallen behind, so no quad core available yet and a lot of games are being written for Intel. So, when it comes to it, Intel more or less has the market for now, AMD almost had it then lost it. You will probably have less compatibility problems with an Intel. Yet, really, they are the same thing...
Just personal preference is what it comes down to. A lot like Mac vs. Windows, even though we all know Mac is cooler and faster than windows, people follow the big guy, Microsoft :) Just kidding, but I am a Mac guy.
If you want to play games or edit videos, I think the Intel is better. Intel Core 2 Duo is faster than AMD X2. Besides, AMD is supposed to radiate more heat than INtel. Since you play game, it would cost you some hours. More time, more heat, and less capability.
