What is the equation of the straight line that passes through the points
A(-6, -1) and B(2,2)?
Two point slope formula Y-y1 = m(X-x1) let ( -6, -1) be ( x,y) and let (2,2) be (x1,y1)
Slope m =( y-y1) / (x-x1)
m= (-1-2) / ( -6-2) = -3/ -8 = 3/8
Y - y1 = m(X-x1)
Y-2 = 3/8 ( X- (-6))
8Y - 16 = 3X + 24
8Y = 3X +24 +16
8Y = 3X + 40
0 = 3X - 8Y + 40
