The subconscious can read these expressions. It's the attempt of the logical mind to interpret the subconscious that creates confusion.
Even stranger analogies are between agony and orgasm in facial expression or the tickle laughter with a paradoxical pain reaction.
All these are juxtapositional points of negative energy, that we draw, entertain and manifest within and around our being, and our environment.
We can live freely of all this by inviting Positive Goodness to 'be' present. It is truly - that easy! :D
