I am 17 and I have been depressed for way too long and I have suffered from suicidal thoughts for around 2 almost 3 years. I have been working with a psychologist for almost 2 months now and it hasn't seemed to help too much yet but that is my fault cause I'm to nervous to tell her all my issues. I want to start taking antidepressants but I have a family history of bad luck with them. I need something that will work quick and help the increasing suicidal thoughts I have. But I also want something that I could stop immediately if I get side effects that I don't like. I know I have to talk with my dr about this but I just want an idea of what to say before I go in

Sadly, antidepressants are sort of hard to pin down. Everyone taking them has a different experience. Some work great for some people, but don't for others. Sometimes they work quickly, other times it can take weeks.
Going off them suddenly is always a bad idea.
Be prepared for a period of trial and error until you find medications that work for you.
Once you do find ones that work, it's great.
