Hi. This is the 1st time i took reading test from optical shops near my house.
Some background 1st :
I went to 2 shops for second opinion & from test sheet the 2nd shop uncle said i need 150 degrees reading glass (for each eye) & that my left eye got agtimatism. He said my test scale is N24. I can see the smallest words on top row very clearly with such.
The 1st shop young man said i need 100 degrees instead & thus i know 75 degrees i can't see clearly (let alone without any reading glass). The top row i can't see clearly but 2nd row i can.
My questions are:
1) At this present moment i am using a ready made 100 degrees reading glass. I do feel the lack of sharpness in reading books.
Should I take the prescription of 100 or 150 degrees? Who should i listen to? Pros and cons of the selection?
2) If i do the test with full arm length, will it be less accurate?
3) What are the advantages of using plastic lens over glass?
4) Is N24 bad vision. Can tell me something abt reading test

I'd suggest that you go try on some some reading glasses (which you are able to do) before you buy a pair. Then you can see what reading glasses works best for you (bring a book with small print and try to read it with the glasses). You might be a +1.00, a +1.25, or a +1.50, i think. If the reading glasses don't cut it, you may need a regular pair of glasses (in order to deal with the astigmatism.
