How would you suggest we try and attain this awareness?
You do realize that most atheists were raised in the religion of their parents, and for most, it wasn't a lack of a sincere attempt see through the layers of dogma, bureaucracy and corruption that touch even the most purely motivated of organized religions (organization and humans seems to always bring out a touch of the graft in a small percentage of even the most sincere functionaries or officiants). So what do you suggest that we haven't already tried?
Actually it's because of awareness that I'm an atheist. Awareness of the litany of specious, fallacy ridden arguments used by theists of all stripes to try to "prove" the existence of their imaginary friend. Awareness of the wealth of evidence that contradicts religious accounts of world history and lastly an awareness of the scope and majesty of the natural universe that does not seem to have any need for a creator or father figure.
For example, I am not aware of a proof or a counterexample to the Riemann hypothesis, though I am almost certain one or the other exists. I've spent some time thinking about it, as have wiser minds than mine, so I assume it's just a really tough nut to crack.
Similarly, if there are gods, then I certainly lack awareness of them. I've spent some time looking for them, as have wiser minds than mine, so I assume they either don't exist or they're just hiding really well.
No, it's that no independently testable evidence of gods has ever been found, so my personal awareness or lack of it is irrelevant.
I should not have to rely on my own personal experiences to understand the nature of the universe. I experience gravity, but I expect scientists to actually measure it and provide the explanations, scrutinised by peer-review. It would be no different with gods.
I believe it is the other way around. YOu lack awareness. We have the awareness to understand that a sky daddy as the bible describes can not exists since he is a contradiction.
it depends what you mean by god, what you mean by atheist.
for me, i don't believe in any gods, so do fall under some definitions of an atheist but i try to avoid a label because i don't need a term to describe my non belief in fairies or dragons or even santa claus

Of course I lack awareness.

Why would you say that?
If anything, being aware is what leads to asking questions - including ones about God.
I believe it is the other way around. YOu lack awareness. We have the awareness to understand that a sky daddy as the bible describes can not exists since he is a contradiction.
People who are aware of invisible beings are often described as insane. So, to that extent, yes, I lack awareness.
NO
We evolved a brain, and your God forgot to create a brain for you ,sad but true.
After all God created theists in his image, THICK.
Atheists are nothing more then intelligent Apes, and real animals in bed ask any theist woman for the evidence.
Awareness of something that doesn't exist is usually a sign of mental illness.
What proof have you that your god is real and created the universe?
it depends what you mean by god, what you mean by atheist.
