As an atheist myself, I had an experience that shook me up when i was a kid, and i'm just looking for a logical explanation for my unusual experience. I perceived the future about my Grandfather having breathing problems. What made my experience so hard to believe, was that I just spontaneously told myself "Grandpa is going to have breathing problems on tuesday", only 4 or 5 days before it happened........ and guess what....it happened. He had breathing problems the following tuesday and had to go to the hospital. What is also weirder was when i told myself(inside my head) that he was going to have breathing problems, I was sitting right ACROSS from him eating at a restaurant. It just defies logic and makes no sense, and the more i think about it, i start to think that maybe there is a God and he was responsible for my paranormal experience. But i just don't know what to think... any explanations?

Well, you could have such an experience again and again and still remain an atheist. Despite what some think, religion and the paranormal are not 'tied together' in any way. As a matter of fact, many religions are very much opposed to paranormal investigation/experimentation. (They may recognize a supernatural deity and possibly angels and demons and that is the extent of it.)
I find it interesting that someone would say that they think any instance that would 'appear' paranormal can be explained by discounting the person involved. (i.e. imagination...mental problem...etc.) How about they actually explain it WITHOUT resorting to that sometime? Because not everyone having such an experience has a mental deficit, a mental disorder, an emotional problem, or an over active imagination....not by a long shot.
The other thing is this....saying 'there is clearly a scientific explanation' is all well and good, but if the skeptics using that line are so familiar with science, why don't they go ahead and PRESENT one?? I'm tired of this ridiculous repetition!
First, how many predictions did you make that didn't come true?
Second, psychological research during the past ten years has shown that memories are not fixed. Rather, each time a memory is recalled, it is changed a little to fit into a personal narrative. In due time, a recalled memory can bear little resemblance to the original event.
And how often have you looked into your crystal ball and discovered the future? Just the once?
Me thinks someone may be exxagerating their story a bit. I was told after my Grandfather died that he predicted weeks before that he would die and he died on the date he said he would. It was mindblowing until I investigated a little further and found out he just thought he was going to die before he was meant to move house. Which he did, but that's a mere coincidence that was blown out of proportion.
How about we do not know? I will bet though if we scientifically examined them we would find, fraud, fake, wishful thinking, over active imaginations, scare or fright, seeing things out of perspective, having hallucinations whatever.
In other words there would be on investigation natural scientific reasons for them.
I don't doubt that you believe you had a paranormal experience, but personally I believe that all paranormal experiences can be explained through psychology and science.
There's always an explanation, even if it doesn't seem apparent at first doesn't mean we should suspect some supernatural cause for it.
There probably isn't a god, but it sounds like you are subject to infinite universal knowledge.
If that's the only thing you've ever "predicted," then it's a fluke.
We have to prove that they even exist first.
