Partners who make a formal commitment to each other should have the same rights regardless of what combinations of sexes are involved. Why the commitment has to be called "marriage" is something I do not understand. Certainly churches should be able to choose to whom they are prepared to offer their version of the sacrament of marriage, but there should be no prohibitions or limitations on the civil authorities recording the commitment, however it is described.

No point bringing god into it because god isn't real. Yep, I support the right of anyone to marry anyone they want. It's a shame Australia is lagging behind more open minded places like Canada on this one; I think Aussie politicians still live in fear of the right-wing talkback radio crowd.
Yes because marriage isn't successful just because there's a man and a woman involved, if any two people love eachother enough to want to commit to eachother for life, they should be entitled to do so.
Nope ! Because whichever way you dress it up & no matter what you call it homosexuality is against all of the laws of nature & if we legitimize it we are devaluing marriage ....

As most Australians believe in a fair go and human rights the answer is a resounding yes.
There will always be a few backward thinkers who are content with their feudal attitudes but they won't stop Australia taking another step forward.

btw, australia is one of the most accepting nations in relation to homosexuals.. we have the Mardi Gras, gay clubs etc.
