whenever i insert a new canister of CO2 the small metal insert must not be puncturing the CO2 canister all the way so it purges the Co2 waisting almost half of it before i can fully tighten it. My question is if the gun needs to be replaced or is there something im doing wrong?

You just have to tighten it as far as you can without it releasing co2, then, when you have a good grip, twist it as FAST as you can so it doesn't waist any of the Co2. However, it could possibly be the O-ring at the bottom of the grip, what you have to do is fill it with silicone (cheap, and easy to do), and if your gun is leaking CO2, this task will most likely work. Here is a video on how to fix it.

However, most likely it is because you are not tighening the screw fast enough, you gotta be clean and ver quick when tightening it to avoid waist of CO2.
