Biblical Cosmology Question?

Aren't Christians letting evil, atheistic science get in the way of true belief? Many will gladly accept that the Earth is 6,000 years old "because the Bible says so", so how hard is it to be consistent and just accept that the Bible says the earth is flat and covered by a dome?

If those atheist science worshipers don't like it, they can pay for you to take a ride on a "space" rocket and prove you wrong.

Update:

also Revelation 1:7 7Look, he is coming with the clouds,

and every eye will see him,

Update 3:

I don't but it Craig. It is much simpler to just take the Bible at its word and think that the Bible writers believed the earth was flat.

If you interpret things figuratively, then who knows what they mean for sure.

Update 5:

Craig, I also consulted several different translations and none say other than the tree was visible from the whole of the earth.
