Carlos Gardel was born Charles Romuald Garden on December 11, 1890, in Toulouse, France. Son of an unknown father, arrived in Buenos Aires with his mother when he was just 2 years. Lived most of his life in the barrio of Abasto. Poor guy was from small jobs to help his mother.
She started singing at 17 years and in 1911 formed a duo with José Razzano Uruguayan singer, who became the musical phenomenon of the decade. The recognition came in 1914 when it began to appear regularly in cabaret Armenonville in Buenos Aires.
After separation of the duo produced the first trips abroad. In 1925, Gardel was already popular throughout Latin America. 1927 was the year of his consecration in Europe, achieving great success in Paris. Then come the United States and the cinema. In the Paramount studios in New York, filming several films that are successful and further extend his legend.
