Hi! I'm hoping to get some help from some of you lovely makeup gurus. :)
I have copper red hair, pale skin, light freckles, and greyish-green/greyish-blue eyes (they change, but they're mostly grey.)
Usually I wear natural, neutral shades of eye makeup, like brown, taupe, gold, etc. It suits me and is flattering, but I am SO BORED of it and would love to wear blue or violet for a change, esp. for special occasions or nights out.
The problem is that whenever I try to wear even just a hint of blue (blended well!) I look so unnatural and gaudy, like a hooker or trannie or something - no offense intended. :) It's so bad I have to take it off and then go back to the same old colours. *sigh*
Is there some kind of trick? Some special way to apply it? I can't figure it out, since those colours are so flattering when I wear them as clothing. :/
Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Update:Lots of good answers. Thanks so much, everyone! :)

line ur eyes with a dark liner ur color is great so try a smoky eye mixed with blues or greens for a night out and tone it down for a more casual look and it will really make ur eye color look brighter
bare Escentuals has a number of eyeshadow kits (many times with 2-3 colors) that look solid on all pores and skin tones. you will locate some samples of them on Ebay, it is an excellent thank you to attempt hues without commiting to the value and the quantity of shadow. you may additionally attempt them at a Sephora save. I even have purple undertones in my pores and skin and have deepset blue/green eyes, and that i've got got here upon that diminished blues and vegetables (many times with basically somewhat of shimmer) incredibly carry out the colour. in case you have been to apply a delicate blue with some dark mascara, it may incredibly make your eyes "pop"!
sorry, but blue looks the worst on redheads. you can go a litte boldering with some shimmery black.
i think you could pull off the blue, as long as it isn't too bright. if it were a subtle, pale blue you'd be all set. :)
if its not to blue it would be pretty but i think you should stay with natural shades. that is what is in style anyways
i'd go for an olive green, no tricks, just apply it lightly and close to your lashes. good luck!
sounds cute!
you should also try wearing teal eyeliner
