I have a 94 BMW 740I on which I just had the fuel pump replaced. I drove it about 15 miles and it stalled. I turned it back on, parked and when I tried to start it again, it wouldn't start. Called my mechanic who said he's send a tow truck. In the meantime some people stopped to help and one brought me gas even though gas gauge said tank was half full. Another gave me a boost as I had run the battery down trying to get it to start. Long story short, after the gas and the boost, it started, so I figured gas gauge was the problem and I immediately drove it to a gas station. However, it only took $15 of gas which tells me it wasn't empty at all, that gas gauge wasn't wrong and that I don't have a clue what it could be. Before I take it back to mechanic, any thoughts?
Update:Yes, thanks; it was the same issue that brought about replacing the fuel pump. I'm not certain if they changed the fuel filter as well, but I would imagine so . . . Other than that I can't think of anything. It seems to get enough 'fire' (spark plugs are all good). There is one other thing, when I have the A/C on and take off from a complete stop, it really struggles to get going/pick up speed(?). Not sure if problems are related.

Perhaps dirty injectors,or other deposits floating around in the fuel system are causing your problems. If you can get your hands on some BG 44K cleaner, try that. The stuff is awesome.

Was the fuel pump replaced because of the no start condition? If it was then maybe you have another issue that the fuel pump replacement never fixed or it could be that something went wrong with the installation and it took that amount of time to appear
Was the AC on when the car stalled? I have seem instances where the AC compressor starts to bind up and can actually cause enough of a load on the engine to stall it out.
Can you duplicate this condition..if so it may be helpful to the tech fixing the car. There are many things that can cause a no start/stall condition. Being able to duplicate this problem is critical. If they can't duplicate it then how can you fix it properly.
.
definitely a fuel related problem wheather it's a partially plugged fuel filter or your injectors need cleaned or your new pump isn't working properly, just take it back to the mechanic who did the pump and let him figure it out.
may well be......... yet!!!! have some one to coach the significant advise on a similar time as you hit upon from the place precisely that vibration come from......... .that Cadillac has an air compressor(12 volts) for the sweetness absorbers. And whilst the sweetness absorbers leaks would be continuously replenishing the leaked air.So ,turn on and rancid by It self
