Hey everyone. I was wondering, can you dye latex? On my braces (I'm getting in 2 weeks) I will have plain old white latex elastics to pull my teeth down. Well, I don't like plain old colors. Is it possible to dye the bands with food coloring or something? It's a wierd question I know... Thanks!

Um I'm pretty sure you can't dye them with food coloring. Food coloring can wash off pretty easily. I'm not sure about other dyes though. They'd have to be no-toxic, but i can't think of why they wouldn't work. If you can't dye them with nontoxic dyes, try asking your orthodontist next time you go. I know that with mine that they have choices between what colors you want.
Hope that helps!
Yes, the pain is normal to have with those darn rubber bands, I hated them too & went through the same thing as you when I wore braces for 5 years. You can call your Orthodontics & ask him what else can you do to make yourself comfortable enough to sleep at night? He might change the rubber bands around to ease the pain. GOOD LUCK!
