I have a Campaq Presario CQ61-425EA using windows 7 64 bit. I have been using the same charger for about 6 months. The other day it just stopped being recognised, it still charges fine, but there is no symbol nest to the batery in the right hand corner. This is annoying because the computer won't install updates as it believes it is running on battery power when it isn't. I had a problem with my wired network recently and updated the bios which is the only thing I can think may have effected it becuase the chager obviously works.
please help

it could be a faulty charger in which case you should look in to replacing the charger as soon as possible. a laptop charger is supposed to last about 1-2 years but if its around 6 months then there is something wrong with the charger, more than likely internally.
i would suggest you look into getting a new charger as soon as possible. i would personally suggest you visit topmicrousa they are very reliable and have yet to disappoint.
if you have any questions feel free to send me an email and ill be happy to help \(^_^)/
Several issues may prevent your laptop from recognizing a power adapter. Understanding these different issues can help you ascertain the problem with the adapter and determine whether you need to replace it.
Power Requirement Issues
Electronic devices have certain power requirements. The voltage specification on the power adapter must be within 10 percent of the voltage specified by the laptop. The adapter's current, which is measured in amperes, and wattage should not be lower than the laptop's requirements.
Battery Issues
Problems with the laptop battery can affect the performance of the power adapter. If the battery is defective, the laptop may not recognize the power adapter.
Loose Connections
Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to the power port, as a loose connection can prevent the laptop from recognizing the adapter. If the power adapter is properly connected but the laptop still fails to recognize it, the cord or adapter may be defective.
optimistically you probably did no longer deplete your charger circuit enter by using using that "extra effective" charger. optimistically is a decrease voltage out positioned and is purely no longer sufficient volts to value your battery.
