My family wants to rescue a dog from a shelter to be a friend for our mini Australian shepherd/chihuahua mix, which my dad takes on a 7-mile run some days. He is fairly small (about 15-20 lbs) and does great. There are two chihuahuas at the local shelter that are friendly and sweet, but my dad wants a dog that a will run with him and he's not sure if a dog that small can. He asked me to research it.

depends on the dog but probably not, coz chihuahuas are small 7 miles to them is a lot further than it is to us.
My little Chihuahuas are extraordinarily quickly. they might run approximately 15 feet in approx. 3 seconds (i timed them for basic). All canines are distinctive. None are precisely the comparable, so I cant enable you comprehend a actual answer. i'd guesstimate that maximum are with regard to the comparable as my Chihuahuas till they are older canines, undesirable, and/or lazy.
I believe that 7 miles is too far for a Chihuahua to run.
