an RN can do everything an LPN can do (as far as licensing is concerned)
RNs have more education and can perform some procedures an LPN can not.
as far as actually patient care abilities I have found that a lot of LPNs know far more and are more capable then RNs.
RNs spend a lot more time in school and generally focus a lot of that time in management functions, care-planning, and administrative skills where LPNs focus almost solely on patient care..........
employers generally will hire an RN even if what they need is an LPN but many of them will NOT pay the RN anymore then they would an LPN doing the job........
this practice is very common with temp agencies....
Yes, you can fill a role as an LPN considering an RN has the same skils plus a few more. Yet the pay is different (you may only get LPN pay which would be less).
