Can a woman enjoy sex after a clitoridectomy?
My sister is having a baby and her OB/GYN told her she has no clitoris and that she had a clitoridectomy performed on her.
Two questions:
Her biological father was Filipino and I have never heard of Filipino's practicing FGM. Have you?
Is there a way to enjoy sex after this procedure?
Just a side note: I have been searching the internet for some answers and there are a lot of comparisons to male circumcision, but it just isn't the same. Sex is such an important part of life and I haven't heard any males saying that their parents put them through a procedure just to quell their natural appetites. It is a little insulting to the women who have been mutilated to compare the two so please don't use that in your answer.

A clitoredectomy removes only the external portion of the organ and leaves the larger, internal portion remaining. Sex should still be pleasurable, but the stimulation will be different than if she was intact. Also, keep in mind that a lot of sex is mental and emotional, along with the physical.

No it is not the same as male circumcision. in male circumcision, only the foreskin is removed. The female homologue for the foreskin is the clitoral hood, not the clit itself. The clit, is the homologue for the penis. It would be like removing the entire penis and expecting a man to be able to enjoy sex...oh yeah nothing to stimulate sexually there.
Beings that some woman can enjoy sex from penetration without clitoral stimulation, yes it is possible to enjoy sex.....but it would take a very attentive partner. That is pretty much the equivalent of a man enjoying the prostate being stimulated(which for a man happens from anal sex)......it involve Skines gland which is the female homologue of the prostate(is also what causes female ejaculation).

Pretty much, removing the clit, is like removing the penis.
Removing the labia is like removing the scrotum.
Female mutilation comparison to a male would be like removing everything but the testes.
not at all, the purpose of the clitoris is for sexual pleasure, without it sex would just feel like a tampon going in and out.
