Two years ago there were hate crimes in St Louis against Bosnians. I m Bosnian, and I am considered Caucasian (white). White people can t experience racism so I m a little bit confused on this subject.
Yes, Bosnians may be white, however their culture and way of life is very different than other 'white' Americans. Americans hate people who don't conform to their culture so this is the reason why Bosnians may be discriminated against. Just ignore those people most people in the US are very welcoming, we hate those types of people.
Sure we can, everyone can, but I don't think the discrimination against white or white-looking people could ever get as bad and systematic as that against darker-skinned people. I remember reading about those incidents and the guy who was murdered, the story was carried by all major far-right (neo-Nazi) online media, and I got the impression that it was more of an exception than a rule, more of a one time incident instead of something that happens on a regular basis.
I sincerely hope those incidents didn't push our community in St. Louis towards the far right of the political spectrum because views expressed by those groups are the same views that people who started the war in our country had, and we know how that ended.
White people do experience racism. Where did you ever get the idea that they don't? There have been terrible genocide among white people. If you know your history, Bosnia has a big background in it.
At the time the Ferguson riots were going on and some Bosnians thought that crimes against them by black and latino teenagers were hate crimes. White people can certainly experience racist crimes by members of other cultures.
