I've been feeling really depressed lately. I've been really pessimistic, feeling empty and lonely, i've been sleeping a lot, have been super tired, etc. I read that atenolol can cause depression. it's a beta blocker used for blood pressure but i take it for tachycardia.
i started taking it five months ago and have only started feeling this way the past few weeks. whats weird is there is no reason i should feel this way. i've got a loving family great friends, etc. so thats why i think it's the medicine.
could depression show up five months after starting atenolol and should i talk to my doctor about it?

Depression does come up as one of the side effects, however, such depression is said to be reversible. Usually depression is experienced while on the drug. Discuss any side effect you experience with your doctor as well as how to manage the said side effect.
Depression is a medical condition and responds well to medical and psychological treatment. It often happens for no apparent reason. If it is in response to circumstances (which yours doesn't appear to be), it's called "situational depression".
Side effects from medication can, indeed, start many months after beginning to take it.
There is no reason you should suffer with the depression. Talk to your doctor.
