I have a jvc mini dv camcorder, I want to connect it to my HP dv5 laptop. The problem Is that none of the ports identify firewire. I have an esatap port it fits usb yet it appears to be slightly thinner and wider than the usb ports. I am reading that esatap speeds are at least triple the speeds of usb 2.0 and firewire 400 and competes with firewire and usb3. So will the firewire port end of a dv cable fit into and properly work in my esatap? I can't find a straight answer online and I don't want to travel on a bus with my laptop, and would prefer to buy a cable over an express card due to costs and ease of use.
