My laptop is about to give out any day now and I only have my Desktop left so its not all bad, but I was wondering if I could put my laptop hard drive into my desktop. I am not really looking to recover anything since there's nothing really of importance in my laptop it really just to boost the memory power of my desktop because it has 2 hard drive slots. I really hope its not going to cost anything because I have no money. and for that matter can I scrap my laptop for any other parts like graphics cards and such? please help. The desk top is a dell so I don't know if that helps?

I don't think you can do this. Laptops are much more integrated than desktops; they usually don't have standardized ports where you can slide the hard drive etc. in and out. Not the main drive at least. If you have a subsidiary hard drive in something like a PCM slot, you could pop it out, but you'd still have a hard time installing it in the desktop.
In order to put a laptop hard drive into a desktop computer you have to buy a adapter. You cannot just plug it in all the connectors are totaly diffrent and the hard drive is also a diferent size. Your best bet would be to save up about 115.00 and buy a internal desktop hard drive from walmart
only way you can is if you use a hard drive tray or case and connect it to your desktop thru usb.no other parts in laptop will work in desktop.adding a drive wont boost the memory of your desktop oonly adding more ram will do that.
it can be done if you have sata ports and it is a sata hard drive, but you will wanna figure out a way to seat it so it just ain't hanging out in your case, otherwise you have to use a usb adapter, if you do have sata power ports and such all you will need is a sata cable (data) so you can plug it in to the motherboard
