While it is possible to make third-party transfers from AA to CX, you can't transfer the miles without incurring significant loss. The first link below indicates that the best transfer option (transferring the AA miles to the Hilton HHonors program, and then transferring the HHonors points to the CX AsiaMiles program) nets an 80 percent loss in the value of the miles (e.g. 100,000 miles from AA turns into 20,000 CX miles).
What you want to do, instead, is simply redeem your AA miles for a flight on CX. Because AA and CX are partners through the oneworld alliance, you can use those AA miles towards flights on CX using an AA "All Airline Award". The redemption chart and other booking information is clearly noted on American's website, including at the second and third links below.
If you have not yet traveled, you can request that you receive miles on either airline, since they're both part of the oneWorld alliance. If you've already traveled, though, then it becomes much more difficult. There are web sites like points.com that offer transfer of miles between programs, but there's a fee involved and it's not a one-for-one transfer (you'll lose value in the transaction). Unfortunately, Cathay Pacific doesn't participate in Points.Com.
If you've already traveled, and it was a recent trip, it's possible you might be able to contact the airline and tell them that you wanted your mileage to go into the other account, since both airlines are part of the same alliance (oneWorld).
If you have a Cathay Pacific frequent flier account and fly with American Airlines, just give American your Cathay Pacific frequent flier account number and they should add it to your Cathay Pacific account. If not, save your boarding pass and then call Cathay Pacific and ask what you need to do in order to receive credit.

I dont think you can because Cathay Pac uses a special card call Asia Miles and you have to fly before you earn the points.
