She has an enlarged heart
Im guessing we are in the first or 2nd stages of heart failure..
Obviously Lasix is a diuretic and removes from fluid from
lungs and heart....
The steroid didn't Predasone didn't do anything - made her worse
She does take Theophylline...
Ive just noticed when she takes Lasix...an hour later...she is
breathing heavy... and doesn't do much outside anymore..goes a few steps....pees...and then lays down
she is 17 pounds, although I think shes lost weight
the dosage is 12.5 I believe...twice a day...
Could Lasix be hurting my dog?

My dog was on that for heart failure earlier this year sadly we had to have him put to sleep as meds stopped working .
lasix is a pretty safe drug and extra may help in an urgent need, but it is not a magic bullet and it takes time for her to wee off enough fluid to affect the amount of edema in her lungs.
ask the prescribing docs as soon as you can. in addition to lasix ask about digitalis and low sodium diets.
I had no problems with my dog and the Drug but each case is different .
Lasix Side Effects Dogs
Let your vet know your dog is having side effects from through medicine change. While on lasix, the dog will have to pee more and rather then getting the feeling like normal that they have to go, it's more like. BLADDER FULL GO NOW! And they can't hold it.
A lot of humans get that too, you have no urge to go, next thing your trying to break the worlds speed record making it to the bathroom in time.
Good luck with your dog
You would be best to ask your vet about the, and even a pharmacist may give you some details in regards to basic actions of the drug. A second veterinary opinion could also be sought.
If you are dissatisfied with the result, you may consider looking into these links, in case they have anything that might help. Of course, be sure to ask your vet about the effects of anything you may consider adding to your dog's regime since some natural products can be harmful, despite being suggested for various ills. In the least, look up each item as far as side effects, and be certain to include "dog" in the search terms.

You might ask your vet if Lasix can reduce potassium levels or the levels of other minerals. If so, that could account for weakness.
According to this link, breathing heavily after taking Lasix may be a veterinary emergency, so be cautious:

This is a question you should discuss with your vet. Only they can tell you what's working and not working for your dog if you bring them in. Usually when a dog is started on a new medication like that they are asked to come back in to check up on them and see how they're doing after a while anyways. At least call your vet to ask.
You should be asking your vet not us.
