Of course, the money the British government has spent on developing facilities and improving transport links and other improvements necessary for the games will be more than worth it in the long run. The increase in the economy from so many people coming into the country to watch the games, so many British citizens spending their savings on tickets and days out, sale of merchandise, sale of television rights, sale of the facilities post-games. It is looking likely to be the kick-start the British economy needs to finally pull us well clear of the recession.
The legacy the games will have on the country and on London will be immense. People will be talking about the games for years, and I, as a British Citizen, am proud to see the Olympics a mere 2 hour drive from my front door. I'll be watching the games avidly, all day, every day, cheering on British competitors and getting in the spirit and behind our athletes. It will be an event that people will be talking about for years and years to come and I for one will be proud to be able to remember the London 2012 games in years to come.
I've been waiting for the games since the minute they were announced 6 and a half years ago and no matter what happens the games will be a huge success, they couldn't be anything but.
