I am interested in getting ffxiv when it comes out but I want to make sure my computer will be able to run it. I remember with my old laptop I tried to play age of conan and it wouldn't run at all because my video card was crap. My new laptop was really nice when I got it and able to run some games, but I am wondering if it is too outdated to run ffxiv.
here is a link to my laptop, not sure if it will work
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTool...
basically
# Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
# Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400
# 4GB (2/2) DDR2 667 SDRAM
# 320GB hard drive
# Blu-ray Disc Drive
# 5-in-1 media card reader
# CineCrystal 16.0" WXGA (1366 x 768) TFT display
# NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS graphics 512mb Dedicated
# 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N WLAN, gigabit LAN, V.92 modem
The reason I'm scared is because the minimum requirements for processor and video card are exactly what I have, and I know those two aspects are important.
So will the game be ok with those minimums or should I look into getting a desktop that has more power?

I am pretty sure that your laptop can run new games simply because it has Windows Vista Home Premium, and Windows Vista can easily run the latest games in pretty good quality. If you want really good quality in games though, I would go with a computer monitor and a desktop computer because games will look so much better on a monitor than a desktop. Also, since most desktops have a lot more memory than most laptops, it will be easier for desktops to play certain games, and the graphics on the games will look much better on the desktop. I hope I helped, and I wish you good luck with your laptop playing new games.

When you're right at the edge of the minimum requirements, running the game will depend on other factors. Having a few background programs hogging up your computer's resources can easily make the game unrunnable. It's up to you to decide if your laptop is in good enough shape to run the game since I can't from here.
There's a lot of factors that you just can't take into account too. Who knows, the game might just end up performing better on nvidia cards. If you're really unsure or you get the game and it doesn't run on your laptop it doesn't hurt to get a more powerful desktop that will probably be cheaper than the laptop.
inspite of what all of us is declaring on the following, it is going to play WOW,Diablo 3, and crysis 2 to an volume. How do i recognize? as we talk i'm employing a Geforce GT430, on a center 2 quad with 4gb ram. The 430 is largely the older version of the GT520. see you later as you shop the decision at round 1366X768, you'd be ok. I take care of to play skyrim, Assassins creed revelations, merely reason 2, and a ton of alternative video games on it, on intense settings with completely playable body prices. i does no longer recommend this card even if, that's in ordinary words a cheap funds video card. the in ordinary words reason I honestly have one, is I had a much more beneficial proper video card that went undesirable on me, and that i did not have the money to replace it with something equivalent, on the time and also intend to construct a sparkling device besides. you would opt to improve the video card, somewhat in case you ought to apply a more beneficial decision demonstrate screen. I, personally would shop my money and get an i5 depending device with atleast a Geforce GT 550ti. i7 is unnecessary for gaming. you'll note little or no vast difference in body prices. Video playing cards are the biggest, for gaming overall performance. That i3 will do the interest, yet further and extra video games are recommending quad center lately.
hi, that video card is not for newer games, a good laptop for gaming can cost around 2000$ because the video card is as expensive as the laptop itself!!!
If you need a laptop for gaming you have to look in tigerdirect and search for gaming laptops. You will see a lot of options. Another choice will be a desktop computer and buying or upgrading the video card.
good luck
you have the minimum therefore you will only get the minimum from the game which means a game that looks like its from 2003 or so..
laptops were never meant to play games and very few can handle the newer generation at high settings.
if you want to really get the full gaming experience you will have to go desktop
