Stool softeners are safe, laxatives aren't a good idea. I took laxatives once during my pregnancy at my doctor's direction, I had a partial hysterectomy at 20 weeks and couldn't go for 8 days after the fact, even with 6 stool softeners a day. By that point, the sickness I had was far outweighing any risks from the laxative.
Her situation may be as simple as the increase in iron from her prenatal vitamins. Citracal makes a great prenatal with DHA supplement that includes a stool softener, I had great luck with that through most of my pregnancy.
There are numerous things she can try first some being drink heaps and heaps of water, increase the amount of fibre in her diet (fruit and veg). However if like me that doesn't work she should see her dr about it as there are some laxatives and stool softeners which are safe and some which are not and that can vary depending on the individual also. Her dr will know what is going to best help her. Please do not buy over the counter medication without consulting a dr first as you never know what harm you could be doing
No laxatives cause cramping in the bowels which causes contractions and she could be put into labor. Go get colace it is what the doc will prescribe and it is over the counter like Tylenol.
actually I think they recommend that you don't use a laxative because it will cause diahrea which can cause dehydrationand that's very bad for mom and baby but some stool softeners are safe to use. she should call her doctor tomorrow and see which ones are safe to take while pregnant.
Youre not supposed to. My doc told me to use Colace stool softener. It doesnt work as well, but it does help. None of the "natural" remedies ever worked for me. Hope she gets better! :)
no the only medication she should be taking is prenatal vitamins and tylenol when she needs it. If she is constipated she can try a very small amout of prune juice, eat a prune, or chocolate.
Yes, followed by anal sex. Might as well get dual benefits from them, right? And are you in a round about way asking will the laxative cause her to poo your baby out? Cuz I dont think it works that way.
