This is really epic info here: It really does prove a "creator" (god/alien/computer-programmer, call it what you want).
I recently found out on the net that a guy called Lucien Khan discovered that the real reason that the clock we use - of Babylonian origin, the 12hrs / 60minutes / 360seconds - is not arbitrary as presumed but actually based directly on the Fibonacci sequence!
The first column (the "ones" column) is repeated exactly the same, every 60 Fibonacci numbers. Lucien Khan then arranged this 60 digit sequence in a circle. It turns out that the N S E W position of the "clock" are 0 and there are many other amazing insane "coincidences" ( they are not coincidences - google "Lucien Khan Fibonacci repeat cycle" to see how extremely awesome this is).
Ok, so the clock we use is based on the Fibonacci sequence and fits supremely perfectly into this set of numbers that comprise all of nature (look up Fibonnacci if you dont know about it).
Even more freaky (but not quite as "provable" or "accepted" by the scientific consensus to the standard you mean), is that in the past, like 3000 years ago and earlier, ancient cultures all over the world all record a year of 360 days! Remember they were all extremely good astronomers back then - they did know exactly how long the year was - it wasnt a mistake, it was simply how long the year was then. The reason why the year has since slowed to 365.25 is unknown but as we know, earthquakes (and other things like comets, meteorites) slow the rotation of the Earth. 5 days is a lot but whatever. That is what is recorded by ancient astronomers. Look up 360 day year.
If not the clock-Fibonacci connection doesnt prove it on its own - Im not a math expert- if the 360 day year can be proven somehow... then the correlation between the two is a pretty good proof way beyond reasonable doubt that this system was created. (Plus the creepy "coincidence" that the Moon appears to be the same size in the sky as the Sun when seen from Earth). Too many coincidences compounding here.
I personally think the fractal characteristics of this reality (eg including the ubiquity of Fibonacci structures, and endlessly dividing branching patterns) point to a computation.
"The word" as in the bible is an archaic way of describing a computation - which is simply the process of ascribing one thing to represent another - coded information - a computation. I see what I see and I dont discredit any possibility.
Ps. 19:1: “The heavens are declaring the glory of God; and of the work of his hands the expanse is telling.”
Ps. 104:24: “How many your works are, O Jehovah! All of them in wisdom you have made. The earth is full of your productions.”
Rom. 1:20: “His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made.”
New Scientist magazine said: “The lay view persists—of scientists having ‘disproved’ religion. It is a view that commonly expects scientists to be nonbelievers; that Darwin put the last nails in God’s coffin; and that a succession of scientific and technological innovations since have ruled out the possibility of any resurrection. It is a view that is wildly wrong.”—May 26, 1977, p. 478.
A member of the French Academy of Sciences stated: “Natural order was not invented by the human mind or set up by certain perceptive powers. . . . The existence of order presupposes the existence of organizing intelligence. Such intelligence can be none other than God’s.”—Dieu existe? Oui (Paris, 1979), Christian Chabanis, quoting Pierre-Paul Grassé, p. 94.
Scientists have identified over 100 chemical elements. Their atomic structure displays an intricate mathematical interrelationship of the elements. The periodic table points to obvious design. Such amazing design could not possibly be accidental, a product of chance.
Illustration: When we see a camera, a radio, or a computer, we readily acknowledge that it must have been produced by an intelligent designer. Would it be reasonable, then, to say that far more complex things—the eye, the ear, and the human brain—did not originate with an intelligent Designer?
There is no proof. I don't believe we have the resources for the proof and even if we did, most of the world would call it bullshit and photoshopped even when you know it is proof of the existence of God. We aren't ready for that kind of thing obviously if we just rule out everything without even giving it a chance.
I suspect what you're trying to say is that you "want" materialistic proof of the Spirit who is God. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but that's not happening. As to the universe being proof of an originator, while this in itself may not provide proof of a particular KIND of god, let alone a particular name for god, it's actually quite good proof of the need for a first cause. Atheist flat statements such as "Oh no it isn't" aren't persuasive. I could give you the philosophical/cosmological argument, but I'm guessing you wouldn't honestly be up to following it -- and it would be too long for this venue.
You may as well admit that you have a bias against the existence of anything beyond the evidence of your senses, of instrumentation, and of maths. If a fact falls outside those parameters, you cannot sense it and will not believe it merely because you are not equipped to apprehend it.
Your religion is called Naturalism. I see no evidence for its truth, but it is a very popular belief system for those who claim to have merely a lack of belief.
I agree with PaulCyp, If you truly are looking for God you might have noticed a longing for something you cant quite describe other than possibly a "somethings missing" feel in your life. find a private place where you are praying to God without showing to anyone "Hey look what I am doing" And ask Him to come into your heart and soul. Then pick a local church walk in and ask them if they might have a study bible you can borrow. This style explains what the gospel is saying to you, then kick back and read it like an adventure story, which truly it is. Try this before reading - simply take a moment and ask God to show you what you need while you are spending time in the word of His book. Don't expect an immediate response (though that has been known to happen) He will feed you with a knowledge of Himself at a pace you will be comfortably surprised at. You don't have to read it all at once, and you might even find it easier to let what you read soak in for a day or two. Enjoy the stories because you will find more than you might have heard of in those pages.
you put an acorn in the ground. it grows into a mighty oak. there is no dirt missing except the part where the roots are located. where did all the mass that makes up the mighty tree come from. for the human body to exist we must consume 1000's of time our body weight to get and maintain our body. yet with the mighty oak nothing else is missing. where did the oak tree come from. dirt isn't what the oak tree is built with or there would be a great big hole. if it is the sun and rain the all of the mass comes from then why don't we grow when we stand in the sun and rain. the mighty oak come from thin air. it can only be created by god
The Universe, life, planets, galaxies, stars and everything. Not any God in particular, to me God is everything, God is Nature. The proof surrounds us but those who ignore it don't want to see it. I know I will be hated and disliked for this answer but I don't care, I don't believe in herd conformity.
Yes, oak trees are made of 'thin air' Specifically, the carbon from the carbon dioxide in 'thin air'. Did you sleep through the science class on photosynthesis?
Proof? You don't need proof to believe in god, its faith either you believe it or you don't. But I believe that god is not a separate entity but the power that lives within yourself. If you have faith in yourself, you have faith in the power that is within you. Think about it if you set out to do something and you do what you set your mind to, and have faith in yourself can you do it? Of course if you believe in yourself, you can do anything that you set your mind to now if you look at god as a separate entity will praying in the church for 24 hours a day help me achieve anything or help me do what I had set my mind to. No so either believe in god or don't believe in god but what you can't do is prove to people that god exist because you have no one to prove to but yourself.

Are there sound reasons for believing in God?
