if youre in the delayed entry program and you havent left for boot/basic, you can drop out! end of discussion! all the threats and lies youre recruiter will tell you are BS. You might not be able to enlist in the same branch in the future, but thats about it!
you might have some explaining to do if you enlist in another branch. It wont stop your enlistment, but theyll wanna know why.
edit:
after some manipulation games and possibly some yelling, your recruiter will mail to you an "official" form of you dropping out of the delayed entry program. Make sure you keep that for your records
edit:
just spoke to a recruiter - it takes 6 yrs for ur name to get out of the system that u dropped out if u want to go back into that branch. they might take u back before then if u have something to offer (college degree, special ops, volunteering for an in-demand job, etc) - and that every recruiting station has different quotas and jobs available so u might want to shop around if one doesnt take u
If you are in DEP, then you aren't really in the military yet. So there is no "dishonorable discharge" associated with you leaving DEP and yes you are free to try and enlist some time in the future.

No, why would he get a dishonorable discharge for that?
