I got a medical marijuana card last year for some issues cuz i absolutly despise pharmaceuticals, but ive been wanting to apply for a position with the state police. I understand its kind of contradictive, being a medical marijuana patient and wanting to be a cop. But im pro pot. Ha. Responsible use that is. But i feel being a person that has good judgment, level headed n enjoys helping ppl itd be right for me. i dont know if it would hinder me even after my card were to expire. Background checks ect.Cant find much useful info online.

Badge203 appears to have the IQ of a 5th grader.. wouldn't surprise me if HE was in law enforcement himself.
To answer your Q - State agencies are harder to gain entry to and are more strict on the past drug usage tolerance. Federal agencies list in plainly on their sites what the tolerance is for drug usage. It has been a while since I've looked but the FBI main site said you can't have used marijuana within 7 years of applying. Certain drugs like heroin or meth were automatic DQ. I've looked into the Sac Sheriff Academy (pretty well known academy here in Cali) and they only required you be clean for 3+ years.
I wouldn't recommend lying about this during your interview process (especially b/c they usually use lie detector or similar instruments to gauge your answers but @ the same time I wouldn't inform them you're a 'pro pot' either. Length of usage will also play a factor as well. You will likely want several volunteer/charity foundations as references as well in addition to solid professional/personal references.
Edit - Badge203 has taken to messaging me privately to call me an idiot among other insults. Can't say I'm surprised that he claims to be a cop given his attitude. He's a big tough guy via the net.. oink oink piggy.

You will not be hired even with the card
They do not have to accept the so called medical marijuana BS card as a medical condition and a free pass to hire druggies
You smoked port, you will be disqualified from even getting an interview
You said you are pro pothead you paid some quack (employed by the pot dealer you bought it from) a $100 for that ingrown pubic hair problem
Find another profession because you will never be in law enforcement
I want to be a police officer and I have an active Medical Marijuana Card. I have not used since September 2014 (when I decided I wanted to be a cop) I just want to know if it is even worth a shot. I have a clean background, no addiction issues and I live in a state that recently legalized cannabis. any input would be helpful but please be polite.
Almost every, if not every, department has a drug screening as part of the hiring process. If you test positive, even with a medical marijuana card, you will be disqualified for hiring as a law enforcement officer. No department wants to trust someone impaired by drugs with a deadly weapon.
Looks like you need to switch to the poison called alcohol and popping pills to be a cop.
I don't believe that to be true
