The other day I was seeing a lot of conservatives brings guns with them at Obama rallies or speeches, so I wondered, if someone could carry a gun in front of the president, why is stopping me from bring a gun inside a bank or some place like that?

Depends on the state. If the state you live in has a "license to carry" then technically you can carry anywhere in the state. The license will have a list of specific restriction such as "on commercial aircraft". A private company can stop there employee's from carrying, but cannot stop the public from carrying on there property if they deal with the public and/or do business with the general public (a grocery store that sells food to the public can't stop you from carrying a gun when you run in to get a gallon of milk if they sell milk to the entire public). The bank can have a sign, but a bank cannot make law. If the state allows you to carry (it would be listed on the restrictions of the license), the bank cannot supersede the state law. The exception to this is if the property is "Federal Property", then your state license would not apply. A local bank is not federal property.
Another one that usually arises is the question of a court. Can a court restrict the people coming into court from carrying a weapon? This also depends on the state's restrictions on the carry license. If there is no restriction, then technically you can carry because the court does not make law, it just rules on it. The exception is if the court is a federal court. Your license would not apply, because this is federal property within the state.
Now if you carry in a bank or in a court room and your license does not restrict you, will you be arrested if caught? Probably. When you go to court will you win, yes. You will be inconvenienced (arrested, booked, charged, bond posted, arraigned and go to trial) and pay out a lot of money (bond, lawyers, lost wages), but you could win if your state did not have a restriction on the license.
I gave you a link that allows you to click on the state you live to see what there handgun laws are.
Look at State laws. In Colorado, you may open carry anywhere that does not have a metal detector upon entrance. If there is a sign prohibiting guns, you can STILL carry inside. They can ask you to leave, but might not. If they ask you to leave, and you do not, you can be arrested for trespassing. If you have a concealed carry license in Colorado, you can open carry OR concealed carry, with all the same rules. You can carry into any government office building that does not have a metal detector. Even if there is a sign on a government building, but no metal detector, you can legally carry into them. You may have to argue with the police, so know your laws before you get cocky. Recommend concealed carry, with a license and no one bothers you.
If you think about it, banks are the place that you DO want to carry a gun. Otherwise, criminals hang outside in he parking lot and rob you when you come out with cash.
It all depends on the state, here in Texas I can carry my gun with a concealed weapon anywhere public with exceptions for government buildings (courts), schools, sporting events, school related vehicles (school bus), bars, and any business that pays for the right to deny access (they have to have a sign at the front door specific with the code 30.06 and be in bright 3 inch letters, most hospitals do this). A bank is open and I have carried every time I go in, even if the sign says no guns I can still go in because it isn't the 30.06 as required by law to prohibit me. You have to research your state's law this issue, but I can go into banks here in Texas.
the following link shows all the places you can go with either a long gun or handgun with or without a permit. You can legally walk down the street with a loaded shotgun, it probably will give you a lot of unwanted attention by police, but you do have the right by Texas law to do so.
Depending on your state laws quite possibly nothing at all. I openly carry into my bank all the time.
As a matter of fact they thanked me, saying they feel much safer knowing there are people out there willing to protect themselves and others.
I had to mention I carry openly because of the cop above me stating carry concealed. Concealed is better. Which is why cops do it.
No, you can't. Firearms and knives are explicitly banned from banks, and it usually says so on a sign near the door. It is not public property, but private, and the business' wish must be obeyed.
If it was a park, on the other hand, sure.
No, there's no special law that prevents it. However, keep it concealed per your local laws.
The sign on the door that says NO WEAPONS! CONCEALED or OTHERWISE!
no try it and you will serve 25 yrs to life in supermax prison.tool
