I have to recommend the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS. (Amazon has them at $199) It has one feature that other brands do not. An optical viewfinder (the little hole you look through at your subject). LCD viewfinders just don't work well in broad daylight. If you are going to take pictures outdoors, you should consider getting a camera with an optical viewfinder.

if you want a camera that has good photo quality try: Polaroid,Nikon,Or Kodak.

Video wise: Kodak has pretty goodquality on vieos but it needs good lighting

I recently got a Kodak EasyShare C813 camera, and I really like it. It takes good pictures and it's cheap. Also, the memory card isn't too expensive.
