Does guitar center let you take your own gear to try out instruments? I want to take my own fender hot rod deluxe and try different guitars with it. What should I do?
You can take your own gear or ask the sales person to supply you with the same pedals if they have them.
Personally, I never bring any pedal. I try the amp to make sure THAT is the tone I need or the guitar or both. If I want to buy an amp, I will bring my guitar. Nothing else.
If 'm going to buy a guitar, I bring an amp. This way, i I make a false move, I can only blame myself.
When you arrive at the store go to the counter and show them your amplifier.
That way they know it's yours.
Besides that, no problem.
I used to take my gorgeous Fender American Deluxe Strat to Guitar Center all the time to try out amplifiers and/or effects. It is the best way to see if your own guitar will sound the way you want it to with differing equipment.
Same thing with your amp. You'll be able to see exactly what a certain guitar will sound like with your own amp. (now, you may not be able to turn it up as loud as you might want, but if you find a certain guitar you really like, they may have a room you can go to to crank it up a little.)
Last I checked you can, Brought my Matchless DC-30 into one in the SF bay area a few years back for the same reason, the sales staff directed me to one of the high end rooms and helped me set up, just had to tell them not to drool on it,

Call the store and ask. Chances are they will allow you, because it is working towards a sale.
