Can you work as an esthetician under as Cosmetology liscence?
I am a liscenced Cosmetologist and wants to take an esthetics class. Do I need to go back to school and get a lisence or can I take some CEU's in esthetics and work under my cos liscence?

As a cosmetologist, You are licensed as a Hairsylist, nail tech, and esthetics.
Absolutely! A cosmetology license covers hair, skin and nails. I have a cosmetology license (in NJ and CA) but I've mostly worked as an esthetician. A cosmetology license trumps an esthetician license like a passport trumps a drivers license. I have NEVER had a spa owner/comapny where I was applying to be an esthetician say "Oh, you have a cosmetology license? Oh well, you need an esthetician license to work here" NEVER has that happened because Cosmo license covers it all!
Most states require a cosmetology license to practice esthetics, so yes, you should be safe to work on your esthetics training without the need for an additional license, but you need to check with your state's professional licensing bureau to be sure. There are some states with specific esthetician licenses that do require certain # of esthetician school hours to be completed, but I think in those states a cosmetology license still allows cosmetologists to practice esthetics.

You need a Cosmetology or Nail Tech license. It is illegal to do nails and charge in every state without a license..Esthetician is skin, Nothing to do with nails.
