Yes, I've seen it, and it seems to me that there is essentially no religion in it whatsoever. The bad guys (the Magisterium) are not Christian by any sign or symbol. It's not clear the Magisterium is a church---they also seem to control the government, and unlike any Christian church they have an armed military presence in the streets. They could as easily be a fascist government.
I haven't seen it, so I don't know. From what I undersatnd the fuss is over the fact that the author presents some very unreligious views in his books. Some believe that kids will see the movie and be drawn toward the books, thereby becoming influenced by what they believe to be false teachings.
The movies have been cut down a lot. But the church is evil in the movie, in the last book the kids kill God, the author said he wrote the books to combat narnia

I dont know...if a catholics faith is so flimsy as to be swayed by some stupid kids film then they need to re-evaluate their own faith.
