the first guy mentioned that if you want to turbo your car you better build your block first like the first guy mentioned about the b18c5 rods and pistons, etc. you want to take out your old stuff and put in the new stuff from the b18c5. b18c5 has more of an upgrade to handle turbo so its best to install it in your b16 and it would fit because they are same b series engine
all the b18c5 into your block will hold the turbo
also you can pass smog with it legal
now for the TURBO
dont go with T3/T4 turbo
you'll never pass smog with that piece of ebay turbo
they only good ones are brand names like greddy turbo
which is CARB legal and will pass smog
you wanna always take off your turbo and then go smog
or you wanna put in your turbo and pass smog and never take it off until it breaks down
The only B series engine that is good for a turbo upgrade is the B18c5 GSR. Because of the pistons, it makes it better for a turbo upgrade. I would not suggest installing a turbo for the B16 unless your going to change all the internal parts. i have a Greddy Turbo stage 2 on my GSR.
Go for Garrett turbo - they are fantastic. But I'd also recommend that you pick up the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell - it'll explain how the system works, how to size a turbo for your engine, components you'll need, etc.
Don't expect it to be cheap. You're looking at a few grand, unless you buy used (or cheap e-bay) parts - and don't expect those to last.
