Lol, yay! A convert!
No, there is no one specific way classical music should make you feel. Just like (good) popular music, (good) classical music can make you feel the whole spectrum of emotions.
Bach and Mozart are always good choices. Have you listened to Bach's cello suites? For Mozart, if you're in the mood for
-dark, powerful, but genius: Requiem, parts of Don Giovanni
-fun, playful: Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro)
-just plain beautiful: "Ave verum corpus"
Some other popular/accessible things you'll probably like include:
-the operas of Puccini: check out the aria "Nessun Dorma"
-anything by Aaron Copland--start with "Appalachian Spring" and then go deeper.
-Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings"
-Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana"
If you want to go a little deeper, try:
-Faure's Requiem or Durufle's Requiem
-The symphonies of Mahler
-Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich--in both cases, symphony #5 is extremely popular.
-Beethoven. 'Nuff said.
-You may or may not be a pre-Baroque kind of guy, but check out "Solo e pensoso" by Marenzio, or the motets of Victoria for some really cool examples.
-If you're brave enough to try modern stuff, Conlon Nancarrow's pieces would be a fun starting place--probably the easiest for a classical music newbie to understand.
Ok, I'm getting totally carried away. Let me know if you have any questions or want more suggestions, I could go on for days.
Why would you be so surprised that you "actually like" some classical music? There is a reason that this music has been around for such a long time. It is the best. It is as simple as that.
There is no particular way any music is supposed to make you feel - that is the beauty of great art... it is personal for everyone.
No you shouldn't call them songs... unless that is what they are. Songs have words, otherwise you can call them pieces, compositions, works or even tunes.
Just actively listen to the great works by any of the famous composers... Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Brahms, Chopin, etc. Make sure you give any piece numerous listenings before making any judgements about it. Remember this kind of music often does not have the instantaneous appeal of modern / popular music. You have found a whole new world that will make your life better for the experience.
I've been involved with classical music for many years. I love the sounds of great orchestras, soloists, small groups, piano, organ, and most of the other music called "classical". It makes me feel good, calm, relaxed. I also play violin, piano, and organ. That also makes me feel good. Pop music, grates on my senses and makes me feel uncomfortable. It has no substance, either. Bach and Mozart are great, but just the tip of the iceberg. Try others, too. Much great stuff is out there. Have fun.
Here's a list of some very famous classical pieces that are well within the grasp of even the most casual listener.

although i usually listen to rock music and stuff, i also like some classical music too!!!
the thing about classical music is that it is often very carefully crafted, and the composers often put their true emotions into it, that's probably why you liked it... cause of the raw emotion in the music.
classical has the ability to go from very calm to being very angry and power full.
personally i like patchable canon in D (very piece full) and elgars cello concerto (maybe that's just cause i play cello lol )
anyways, theres nothing wrong with liking classical :)
