i need to find the types of network structures, their diagrams, how they work and the advantages & disadvantages... i tried google, but i found stuff irrelevant to my homework... thank u
You have your "star", "bus", "ring" and "Hierarchical" network systems. THose are your basic types of networks. You can have advance ones like "extended star", "mesh", and "Cellular" (wireless).
Star network:
Pros: it has a central hub for many cpu's to access data...
cons: if the central hub is down, say bye bye access.
Bus network:
Pros: THere is no host CPU, it is cheap and common
Cons: it's not good for file sharing
RIng network:
Pros: This is a commonly used network system for main frame CPU's world wide, has no main hub CPU unit
Cons: The data has to go through other CPU so if one breaks down, say bye bye connection.
Hierarchical network:
Pros: IT's several CPU's connected to one central CPU. The several CPU's connected to the central CPU have other CPU's connected to it. You have good access and less chance of failure.
COns: the primary CPU has more priviledges...(it's used in schools) WHen you the head administrators incharge and teachers have limited access and students have very little access.
I hope this helps you! IF ya'll want the diagrams, i'll give my email address and send me a reply. I have the diagrams up and ready but I'm awaiting your orders.
